4 yrs agoThe custom was outlawed in 1911. My Chinese colleague who grew up in the 50s remembers that his grandmother had had her feet bound. Foot binding must not be seen as a unique aberration. Even now high heels and cosmetic surgery (such as breast enhancement) cause equally serious injury.
